Wijngaard Hof van Twente

The Netherlands

"Can you make wine out of peppers? I said: It seems like fun, let's try it!"

Winery Hof van Twente is located on the outskirts of the small village of Bentelo. The first vines went into the ground in 2000, and some time later the wine cellar, winery and tasting room were built. The vineyards now cover 5,5 hectares, which makes Hof van Twente one of the larger wineries in The Netherlands. Companies have discovered from the wider region, that Ilse and Roelof Visscher know how to make wine and have their grapes made into wine at Hof van Twente.

In 2014 the innovative company also started a vineyard on the island of Curaçao in the southern Caribbean Sea and back home in The Netherlands they started producing wines made out of tomatoes and peppers in 2015 under the name ViniVega. Never a dull moment!

Wijnkasteel Genoels-Elderen

The foundations of the château of Genoels-Elderen, in the Belgium province of Limburg, date back to Roman times. The Romans knew already that the conditions for winemaking were really good in this area because the property used to have 25 hectares of vineyards back then. In 1990 it was this winery that started the renaissance of winemaking in Belgium by planting the first vines again. What started merely as a hobby turned into an impressive winery.
