Wijngaard Dassemus

The Netherlands

"We don't use any chemicals at all here, and yet we've managed to make very good wines…"

In the close surroundings of Chaam, in the southern Dutch province of Brabant, you will find the hamlet Dassemus where the eponymous vineyard of Ron Langeveld is located. Because he wants to approach his vineyard as ecological as possible, he chose to plant resistant new grape varieties like Solaris, Rondo and Johanniter. In 2004, the idea to start a vineyard emerged and now it has grown to more then 5 hectares.

An obvious choice to start a vineyard? Before Ron finally opted for this new challenge, he studied mathematics, worked in ICT and practiced sports on top level. Not exactly your average career!

Wijnkasteel Genoels-Elderen

Wijnkasteel Genoels-Elderen

The foundations of the château of Genoels-Elderen, in the Belgium province of Limburg, date back to Roman times. The Romans knew already that the conditions for winemaking were really good in this area because the property used to have 25 hectares of vineyards back then. In 1990 it was this winery that started the renaissance of winemaking in Belgium by planting the first vines again. What started merely as a hobby turned into an impressive winery.
